She can use tools skillfully to get things done. No one promises us that we'll always have a man around the house, and even if we do we might not want to around for him to fix what's broke. A fearless southern girl can hang a picture, tighten a leaky faucet, check the oil, start the lawnmower, paint the kitchen cabinets and caulk the bathtub. She might pay someone else to do it, but not because the project intimates her.

Same can be said for spunky northern girls! :)
I like the sound of this Southern Girl. I think I could do a few of those things, and I'd take a course for the ones I needed help with.
